Cleone Joins Anaphylaxis Campaign
As a responsible manufacturer, we believe it’s important not only to keep our customers informed on our behalf, but also to alert you to other choices and outlets of information with regard to food sourcing, production and content.

Keeping You Informed On Sources of Allergies
In a world where choices abound, it’s not always easy to know where your food comes from, and what it contains. Food labelling can be confusing (sometimes deliberately so) – and although the food industry endeavours to uphold standards, there will always be work to be done.
Because Cleone Foods care about being transparent, honest and keeping you informed, we are always looking for opportunities to broaden our knowledge and understanding, in order to pass the information through to our customers.
With this aim in mind, we became members of the Vegetarian Society a while back, and followed this up recently by joining the Anaphylaxis Campaign (www.anaphylaxis.org.uk) as a further step in the right direction.
What is Anaphylaxis?
Anaphylaxis refers to food or substances that a person may be allergic to. Symptoms (which vary from mild to life-threatening) can appear almost instantaneously, or take up to a couple of hours to show, and include loss of consciousness, swelling of the lips and narrowing of the airways. Less severe symptoms such as hives, nausea and nettle rash (urticarial) are also common.
Sources that may invoke such a reaction are varied – from fish, peanuts, milk and eggs through to non-edible sources such as latex rubber, bee stings and penicillin.
The campaign supports people at risk of severe allergies by providing resources and information. A large part of their work is also based around educating the general public and health professionals about the condition.
