Cleone Foods Ltd – manufacturer of the Island Delight Jamaican Pattie – joined other regional suppliers and charities at Tesco – Hodge Hill store. This was to promote and champion events taking place in the local community.
Thousands of people turned out to visit stalls manned by various suppliers and charities. Encouraging the local community to volunteer for local charities and organisations. Cleone Foods staff handed out hot a Island Delight Jamaican pattie to everyone who braved the rain and joined in on the fun in the Tesco car park. Free food and drink was enjoyed together with fun activities for the kids. This is including face painting, clowns, bouncy castles and a local DJ all added to liven up the event further. The Island Delight mascot ‘Mr Pattieson’ was also out and about, meeting and greeting customers.
Wade Lyn, Managing Director of Cleone Foods said:
“The suppliers and charities involved all worked together to put people in contact with charities to create more volunteer numbers. And raise general awareness of the work done by the organisations. These Tesco Fairs are a great opportunity to bring the community together with the charities for a really good cause. As well as, giving the opportunity to suppliers like ourselves to help promote local and regional businesses. And promote our products at the same time.
As the Prince of Wales’ Regional Ambassador, I support local food manufacturing companies to develop strong links with the multiples and Tesco is certainly demonstrating this by inviting regional suppliers like Cleone Foods to promote regional food and drink”.
Tesco Community Champion Ifat Hussain said:
“All the people were very supportive and thought it was a great idea. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves and were pleased to meet the charities and finding out how they could get involved.”
Tesco will be holding many more of these events in other stores around the region – giving everyone the opportunity to get involved and where ever possible Island Delight Jamaican Patties along with Mr Pattieson will be getting involved too – so watch out for us!
